ABOUT ME
Interior design has been part of my story for as long as I can remember

MY STORY
I think I've been in love with interior design for just about as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are of sitting at our family desktop computer, scrolling through pictures of beautiful homes on Pinterest and saving Zillow listings of mansions in Hawaii. I was probably more familiar with luxury real estate listings than I was with long division.
Growing up in an old farmhouse, I was constantly dreaming up ways to change things, whether that meant repainting a room, rearranging furniture, or tackling a new project. In sixth grade, my mom finally let me repaint our living room, and little did she know that was just the beginning. By 18, I’d repainted that room twice and taken on projects in seven others, from creating faux whitewashed brick walls with joint compound to installing subway tile in our bathroom.
Eventually, my childhood obsession turned into something a little more official. In 2024, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with my Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture. Along the way, I was fortunate enough to receive three design awards, including two statewide honors and a top-five placement in an international design competition, competing with students from 58 other countries. After graduating, I spent a year and a half working in residential home design, creating floor plans and learning the ins and outs of the homebuilding industry.
And yet, somewhere along the way, I realized something was missing. As much as I loved designing homes, I couldn't shake the feeling that I wanted to do things a little differently. I wanted the freedom to work from wherever life took me and to help people create beautiful spaces without being tied to one office or one location. I especially love the creative side of design. Reimagining floor plans, creating renderings, and seeing the potential in spaces that other people might overlook. I kept thinking about how amazing it would be to do that for people all over the country.
And then it occurred to me. Why couldn't I? After all, some of my favorite projects in college were for places thousands of miles away. With today's technology, there's no reason great design has to be limited by geography. So I decided to take everything I'd learned, everything I'd loved since I was little, and build something of my own.
And that's how K. Wedel Interiors came to life.
I'm so glad you're here ♥︎
Interior design isn't the only thing I've been fascinated by since I was little.
I remember being a kid and thinking about how, somewhere on the complete opposite side of the world, people were fast asleep in total darkness while I was going about my day in the light. Something about that was just so fascinating to me. Different cultures, different landscapes, different ways of living. An entire world out there that I hadn't seen yet.
I remember seeing pictures of glass igloos tucked away beneath the Northern Lights in Finland, and my heart practically racing at the thought of actually being there. I was the kid looking up places to travel instead of doing my homework and searching for flights I had absolutely no business booking.
When I'm not dreaming up interiors, I'm probably dreaming up my next adventure. I love experiencing new places, getting lost somewhere unfamiliar, and capturing the little moments along the way with my professional camera. I've fallen in love with so many places I've visited, but if I had to choose, Vietnam and Peru have been my favorite so far!
